Soft-start function for precise and gentle drilling
The DKB-200/3SH diamond core drill features a soft-start function which, by gradually increasing the speed and power, offers the following advantages:
- Lower start-up load on the machine and the power supply.
- Better control of the machine and greater precision when starting the drilling process.
- Torque surges are reduced, making operation safer and more comfortable for the user.
- A smooth start reduces the risk of cracks and fractures in the material.
- The DKB-200/3SH diamond core drill is fitted with a 3-speed gearbox with oil-bath lubrication and offers idle speeds of 590, 1310 and 2730 rpm.
- The machine’s drill spindle has a 1¼"-UNC external thread and a G½" internal thread for mounting a diamond core bit and a centring tip.
- The diamond core drill is mounted on a core drilling stand via the machine’s clamping collar (Ø 60 mm). The diamond core drill is compatible with our KBS-252/Light-K, KBS-252/M-PRO, KBS-280M and TBS3000/PRO core drilling stands.
- The connection to the water supply is made on the machine side via a Gardena adapter.
- For dry core drilling, connection to an industrial vacuum cleaner is possible via the optionally available SAS-PRO dust extraction system (item no. 6312).
- This allows for optimal adaptation to a wide variety of tasks.
- Safety features:An electronic overload protection system and a mechanical slip clutch ensure the operator’s safety and a long service life for the machine.
- Core drilling stand: For safe and precise operation of the core drill, we always recommend using a core drilling stand. When drilling by hand, the drill bit may become jammed – despite the safety mechanisms – causing the machine to twist. A core drilling stand ensures stable guidance, reliably prevents the machine from twisting and enables precise drilling. This makes handling easier and noticeably improves safety at work.
- Sturdy storage case: The plastic case included in the scope of delivery is designedfor the practical and careful storage of the machine and the accessories supplied.

Advantages of wet core drilling
Wet core drilling offers several key advantages over dry core drilling:
- Reduced dust generation: Wet core drilling uses water to cool the drilling area and bind the dust produced. This results in a healthier working environment and less cleaning required.
- Effective cooling: The cooling effectof the water prevents the drill bitfrom overheating, thereby extending its service life. Thanks to the constant cooling, drilling can be carried out more quickly and efficiently, as no breaks are required for the bit to cool down. Cooling also reduces the risk of material damage that could result from overheating in the material surrounding the borehole.
- Higher drilling quality: Wet drilling produces more precise and smoother boreholes, which are required for applications with high precision requirements.
- Longer drill bit service life: Water cooling results in less wear and a longer service life for the tool, which saves costs.
- Reduced noise levels: The wet method is generally quieter than the dry method. The water dampens vibrations and reduces noise during the drilling process.
- Faster drilling progress: Thanks to lower friction and constant cooling, the wet method allows drilling at higher feed rates and speeds. This means that wet core drilling can usually be completed more quickly than dry core drilling.
- Better suited to hard materials: Wet core drilling is particularly suitable for harder materials such as concrete, granite or reinforced concrete, as the cooling and reduced wear make drilling into these hard materials more effective.
- Versatility of application: The wet method can be used for both vertical and horizontal drilling and is suitable for various materials (concrete, stone, brick).
Advantages of dry core drilling
The dry method for core drilling also has a number of specific advantages over the wet method. Although it is used less frequently in certain situations, it offers significant benefits in suitable applications:
- No water required: Core drilling using the dry method does not depend on the availability of a water supply. This also simplifies logistics, as there is no need for hoses, fittings or a water supply system.
- Prevention of water damage: With dry drilling, there is no risk of water damage, which is particularly important in the case of sensitive buildings (e.g. historic buildings) or near electrical installations.
- Clean environment with no water residue: With dry drilling, the surrounding area remains free of water and mud, which reduces the effort required for the final clean-up of the work site.
- Quick set-up and fewer accessories: As dry drilling does not require a water supply system, the equipment is generally simpler and quicker to set up.
- Lower costs: Dry drilling is generally more cost-effective than wet drilling, as no water supply system is required and fewer accessories are needed. Cleaning costs are also largely eliminated, as no slurry is produced.
- Flexibility and mobility: Dry drilling is often more flexible and easier to use on the move, as less equipment is required. The dry method is well suited to smaller boreholes, where drawbacks such as dust generation are less of a concern.
- No slurry or waste water: Whilst wet drilling often produces slurry that needs to be disposed of, dry drilling is more environmentally friendly in this respect.
- Lower risk at low temperatures: Dry drilling offers advantages in cold environments or at low temperatures, as water can freeze and thus hinder the work. Particularly in wintry conditions, dry drilling provides a safe alternative to the wet method.
