"Skippy" pile driver with air-cooled 4-stroke petrol engine

The "Skippy"pile driver is a powerful and modern tool for the quick and easy driving of timber, metal and concrete piles up to a diameter of 120 mm. It enables professional work on construction sites, in agriculture, in event technology and many other applications.
The modern design, ergonomic construction and vibration-dampened handles reduce strain on the operator.
All the machine’s controls are integrated into the combination switch in the operating handle, which simplifies handling and makes operation intuitive.

The rammer’s drive motor, with an output of 1 kW / 1.36 PS, generates a powerful impact energy of up to 55 joules at a maximum impact rate of 1,350 impacts per minute. The motor can be started easily via a pull cord. The large fuel tank and low fuel consumption allow for longer periods of use without refuelling.
The built-in four-stroke engine offers various advantages over the commonly used two-stroke engines: quieter and lower-emission operation, as well as a longer service life and lower maintenance requirements.
The cast aluminium gearbox housing and the robust engine ensure the machine’s stability and durability.

The accessories and tools supplied, together with the operating instructions, ensure that you can use the pile driver safely and without any problems. The warranty and after-sales service provided by Kernlochbohrer GmbH ensure that you will enjoy using the machine for many years to come.

Note on commissioning

The machine is supplied by Kernlochbohrer GmbH with engine oil already filled. As a precaution, the engine oil level must be checked before starting the engine for the first time!

Instructions for driving piles with a pile driver
Different ground conditions can affect the driving process and the stability of the driven piles. Here are some important points to bear in mind:

Soil type
The type of soil has a significant influence on the driving process. Loamy soils offer greater resistance, whilst sandy soils are generally less resistant. Loamy soils are characterised by high cohesion, which can lead to increased resistance during driving.

Soil moisture
Soil moisture also plays an important role in the driving process. Wet soil increases the resistance encountered by the pile, whilst dry soil offers less resistance. If the soil is too wet or muddy, it can be difficult to drive the pile, as this leads to increased frictional resistance.

Soil conditions at depth
It is very important to take soil conditions atdepth into account, as these can often differ from the soil layers at the surface. It is possible that the upper soil layers consist of loose material such as sand, whilst firmer clay or even rock may lie beneath. These differences can lead to uneven driving and compromise the stability of the pile.

Groundwater level
The groundwater level is another factor that influences the driving process. A high groundwater level increases the resistance encountered when driving the piles. The presence of water can also loosen the soil and lead to reduced stability of the driven pile.

Type and dimensions of the pile
The influence of soil conditions also depends heavily on the type of pile and its dimensions. Different pile materials, such as timber, steel or concrete, each have different mechanical properties and therefore react differently to various ground conditions. To ensure optimum load-bearing capacity and stability, it is important to select the correct type of pile in accordance with the ground conditions. The size of the pile also plays a role, as it influences its resistance and load-bearing capacity.

Site investigation
A comprehensive site investigation prior to pile driving is essential to assess the ground conditions and identify any potential difficulties or risks. This investigation enables an informed decision to be made regarding the driving process, ensuring optimum stability and durability of the driven piles. Assessing the ground conditions makes it possible to take appropriate precautions to overcome potential problems, for example by using specialised driving techniques, adapting the driving method or selecting suitable driving materials. A thorough soil investigation is an essential part of a successful piling operation and helps to identify potential problems at an early stage and find suitable solutions to ensure the stability and safety of the structure.
