DKB102/H diamond core drill for wet and dry drilling up to 132 mm

The DKB102/H is the lightest wet and dry core drill in our range: 4.4 kg, 1900 watts, two-speed gearbox with speed control, up to Ø 132 mm in masonry, up to Ø 82 mm when hand-held in reinforced concrete and up to Ø 102 mm when used with a Core drill stand.

Drilling diameters and materials

The DKB102/H drills wet in concrete and reinforced concrete, and dry with dust extraction in masonry, sand-lime brick, clinker and brick. The water connection is fitted as standard; for dry drilling, a Dust extraction attachment is required. The drilling range is suitable for flush-mounted boxes for sockets and switches, for cable and conduit pipes, heating and plumbing pipes, and, in masonry, also for small waste water pipes.

Motor and gearbox

The 1900-watt motor, operating at 230 V, is driven via a grease-lubricated two-speed gearbox. Within each gear, the speed is continuously adjustable via the speed control, so that each core bit runs at the speed appropriate to its diameter, rather than simply at a rough setting for that gear. Large core bits run at full torque in first gear, small ones in second gear at high cutting speed; the lower gear is selected for reinforced concrete.

Additional functions

• Soft start: The motor starts at reduced speed, allowing the drill bit to engage smoothly without a torque surge causing the machine to jerk or the hole to go out of alignment.
• Speed control: Allows the speed to be adjusted continuously within the gear without having to switch to the next gear.
• Carbon brush warning system: Shuts down the machine before worn carbon brushes damage the motor. A replacement set is included.

Safety features

• Slip clutch: Mechanically disconnects the power transmission as soon as the drill bit becomes jammed in the material. When drilling by hand, this prevents kickback into the wrist.
• Electronic overload protection: Shuts down the machine in the event of prolonged overload to protect the machine itself.
• Protection class II: Insulated for safety; no earth wire required.

Hand-held or in a Core drill stand

Weighing 4.4 kg, the tool sits comfortably in the hand even when drilling into ceilings; the supplied clamp-on handle guides the other hand. It can drill up to 82 mm in reinforced concrete when used freehand. Up to 102 mm is possible when used in a core drill stand, but the tool is primarily intended for hand-held use; we do not currently stock a suitable stand with a 46 mm collet chuck. The spindle has an M16 external thread for back box cutters, whilst the included 1 1/4" UNC adapter accommodates standard Diamond core drill bits. The adapter has a G 1/2" internal thread, into which a centring tip fits when drilling without a stand.

Suitable drill bits and Dust extraction attachment

The attachment used on the spindle depends on the application:

• M16 back box cutter: Ø 68 / 72 / 76 / 82 mm, fits directly onto the M16 thread. For installing sockets in masonry, sand-lime brick and clay brick.
• SAS-PRO dust extraction attachment: Fits onto the supplied M16 to 1 1/4" UNC adapter, between the machine and the core bit, and channels the drilling dust to an industrial vacuum cleaner. Required for dry drilling with 1 1/4" UNC core bits.
• M16 dry diamond core bits with dust extraction: Our 1 1/4" UNC to M18 adapter fits onto the supplied adapter, onto which our M18 to M16 Dust extraction attachment is fitted; this accommodates the M16 dry diamond core bits with a working length of 160 mm at the front.
