250 mm diamond sanding disc for floor grinders
A diamond grinding disc is the disc fitted to a floor grinder: 250 mm in diameter, with diamond segments mounted on a steel disc that is screwed directly onto the machine. It is used to grind screed and concrete to a level finish, remove sintered layers, paint and sealants, and strip away tile adhesive. Grinding discs for 125 mm angle grinders are a different type of tool. Our discs fit the BSM-250 floor grinders.
Hard, medium or soft: which pad for which floor
The bond of the segments must be suited to the floor: a hard floor requires a soft bond that quickly exposes new diamonds, whilst a soft, abrasive floor requires a hard bond that does not wear out too quickly.
| Pads | Grit size | Segments | For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grinding disc for hard floors, grit size 16 | 16 | 20 | Concrete up to C50, hard screed, natural stone, coarse grinding of paint and varnish |
| Grinding discs for hard floors, grit size 30 | 30 | 20 | Concrete up to C50, hard screed, natural stone |
| Sanding discs for medium-hard floors, grit size 30 | 30 | 20 | Concrete up to C40, tile adhesive residues |
| Grinding disc for soft floors, grit size 30 | 30 | 20 | Concrete up to C30 |
If you are unsure about the floor type, start with the disc for medium-hard floors and check the removal rate after a few metres.
PKD grinding disc for adhesives and coatings
Tough layers smear diamond segments. Polycrystalline diamond (PKD) strips them away: our PKD sanding pad with 16 segments removes epoxy resin, thick layers of paint, filler and adhesive residues without grinding away the concrete underneath; the Premium Mix grinding disc with 10 PKD segments removes old epoxy coatings and uneven concrete evenly without digging in. Both operate without applied pressure; the machine works using its own weight.
Grit size and service life
Grit 16 is for coarse grinding with high material removal; grit 30 is the standard for surface grinding prior to flooring installation. Finer grinding is achieved using sanding pads on the adapter plate, which is fitted to the machine in place of the disc. Service life depends on the bond and water: wet grinding lasts longer, whilst dry grinding with extraction keeps the floor clean. The adapter plate is also required for Diamond grinding shoes with a Redi-Lock mounting.
That’s why you should choose diamond sanding discs from Kernlochbohrer.com
Our sanding discs are designed for our BSM-250; the hole pattern and diameter fit without the need for an adapter plate. Over 5,000 professionals trust us; we are Trusted Shops certified.
