Floor grinders for concrete, screed, stone and wood
A floor grinder uses a rotating diamond tool to remove the top layer of a floor: tile adhesive and paint residues before laying a new covering, the sintered layer and burrs on fresh screed, unevenness in concrete, and the old sealant on terrazzo. Our floor grinders have a working width of 250 mm, operate wet or dry, and grind concrete, screed, asphalt, marble, terrazzo and wood. For parquet and floorboards, there are specialised parquet sanders with rollers or belts; we do not stock these – our machines are single-disc sanders designed for mineral floors.
Sanding screed with a screed sander
Fresh cement or anhydrite screed has a soft sintered layer which must be sanded down before laying tiles, parquet or design flooring; otherwise, the adhesive will not bond properly. The floor sander moves across the surface with a diamond sanding pad, whilst the swivelling sanding head reaches right up to the edge. In dry sanding, the dust is collected via the brush ring into the industrial vacuum cleaner; in wet sanding, the surface is cooled and the dust bound using water from the water pressure tank. For tile adhesive and coatings, the PKD sanding disc is used, which removes the tough layer without smearing.
Grinding and polishing concrete
With concrete, the process is carried out in stages: coarsely with diamond grinding shoes, more finely with sanding pads, and finally with diamond polishing pads to achieve a shine. Our BSM-250/Xtrem features infinitely variable speed control with a display and selectable rotation direction; the speed is selected according to the material and abrasive. The BSM-250/E-PRO is the machine for concrete, asphalt, stone and terrazzo in construction work, featuring a spirit level on the grinding head, an emergency stop flap on the guide arm and IP 54 protection for wet grinding.
Grinding discs, diamond grinding shoes and pads for every task
It is the accessories that turn the machine into a screed grinder, concrete grinder or polisher. 250 mm diamond grinding discs for screed and concrete, PKD for adhesives and paint, diamond grinding shoes in various grit sizes for coarse grinding, sanding pads for fine grinding and diamond polishing pads for a high-gloss finish. Holders, brush rings and spare parts can be found under ‘Floor grinder accessories’.
Buying a floor grinder: working width, power, weight
| Machine | Working width | Operation | Substrates | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BSM-250/E-PRO | 250 mm | wet and dry | Concrete, asphalt, stone, terrazzo | 55.7 kg |
| BSM-250/Xtrem | 250 mm | wet and dry, infinitely variable speed | Concrete, screed, marble, terrazzo, wood | 68 kg |
Both models run on two wheels; the guide arm folds away, and when folded, the Xtrem is 650 mm long and fits into any van. The weight is not a disadvantage when floor grinding; it presses the tool onto the floor and determines the removal rate. The machine comes with an industrial vacuum cleaner (dust class H) for dry use or a water pressure tank for wet use.
