Industrial vacuum cleaners for construction dust, drilling dust and sanding dust
An industrial vacuum cleaner collects dust right where it is generated: at the core drill during dry drilling, at the floor grinder, at the underfloor heating milling machine, during demolition work and when sweeping the building site. Our industrial vacuum cleaners are dry vacuum cleaners in dust class H with an airflow of 200 to 400 m³/h and HEPA filters, designed for concrete dust, quartz dust and grinding dust – the sort of dust that would clog up a domestic vacuum cleaner in a matter of minutes.
Industrial vacuum cleaner or standard vacuum cleaner: the difference
A domestic vacuum cleaner is designed for carpets and crumbs. Construction dust is finer, sharper and occurs in large quantities. It clogs the filter, the motor overheats, and whatever the filter fails to trap is blown back into the room by the machine. An industrial vacuum cleaner has a motor designed for continuous operation, a large container, a pre-filter or cyclone that traps coarse dust before it reaches the main filter, and a filter-cleaning mechanism that maintains the airflow throughout the working day. The dust class indicates what it retains: L for low-hazard dusts, M for wood and plaster dust, and H for quartz and mineral dust with 99.995 per cent separation efficiency.
Workshop vacuum or industrial vacuum: which is best for where
A workshop vacuum cleaner sits under the workbench, collects swarf and grinding dust, and is powered via the socket connected to the tool. Our TS-38/HEPA is such a vacuum cleaner, featuring a tool socket, a 7-second run-on time, automatic filter cleaning and a flow rate of 262 m³/h, yet it still meets dust class H. On a building site, when using a floor grinder or when milling grooves for underfloor heating, more dust is generated than a single container can hold. This is where our TS1000/PRO construction vacuum cleaner, with a flow rate of 200 m³/h and weighing 30 kg, and the TS2000/PRO, with two individually controllable motors, 400 m³/h and 48 kg on the chassis, both fitted with continuous-feed bags that can be tied off without any dust escaping. For large volumes, the ZA60/PRO Cyclone separator with a 60-litre steel container is fitted upstream; it captures 95 per cent of the coarse dust before it reaches the vacuum cleaner.
Dust class H: why for concrete and quartz dust
Concrete, screed, sand-lime brick and tiles contain quartz. Fine quartz dust is classified as carcinogenic, and the employers’ liability insurance association requires dust extraction of dust class H or M, with proof of compliance, when drilling, grinding and milling these materials. Our vacuum cleaners are tested in accordance with DIN EN 60335-2-69, Annex AA for Dust Class H: F8 pre-filter or cyclone, followed by a HEPA H13 filter with 99.99 per cent efficiency at 0.3 µm. The filter is cleaned using a lever or an automatic mechanism and remains inside the unit, whilst the dust is collected in the bag.
Buying an industrial vacuum cleaner: suction power, capacity, connection
Four questions to ask before buying:
- What type of dust? Dust class H is required for concrete, screed and tiles; class M is sufficient for wood.
- Which machine will it be connected to? A core drill or hand-held machine requires 200 to 260 m³/h, whilst a floor grinder or router in continuous operation needs a large vacuum cleaner with two motors.
- How is the dust disposed of? Endless bags for continuous operation, filter bags for the workshop.
- Where is the vacuum unit located? On a workbench with a socket and automatic start-up, or on a building site with a chassis, parking brake and an 8-metre cable.
Filters, bags and accessories
HEPA filters, pre-filters, continuous-feed bags, hoses and reducers for our vacuum cleaners can be found under ‘Vacuum Cleaner Accessories’. The machines that connect to the vacuum cleaner are listed under ‘Core Drilling Equipment’, ‘Floor grinders ’ and ‘Underfloor Heating Milling Machines’.
