Underfloor heating milling machine for cutting heating grooves in existing floors

Retrofitting underfloor heating without removing the screed: the underfloor heating milling machine cuts grooves into the existing floor, the heating pipe is laid in place, the groove is filled, and the new floor covering is laid on top. Zero installation height, no demolition, no new screed. Our underfloor heating cutter, the T-REX, cuts grooves 13 to 17 mm wide and up to 25 mm deep in cement screed, anhydrite screed and concrete; it has its own drive system and can operate up to 120 mm from the wall.

This is how the milling machine cuts the groove in screed and concrete

A diamond milling disc with a V-profile runs on a 4,000-watt spindle powered by 400 V and cuts the groove in a single pass. The milling depth is adjusted electrically; the display shows the value, and disc wear is compensated at the touch of a button. Two independently adjustable feed wheels guide the machine in a straight line or around bends; a laser pointer keeps it on the marking, with a feed rate of up to 7.5 m/min. Milling can be carried out dry, with dust extraction via an industrial vacuum cleaner, or wet, using water. Both handles feature feed buttons and an emergency stop; releasing the button stops the feed.

Groove widths 15, 16 and 17 mm: which milling disc for which pipe

The groove must fit the heating pipe; the pipe should sit snugly and must not become jammed. Our 130 mm diameter milling discs are available in groove widths of 15, 16 and 17 mm: 15 mm for the standard 14 mm heating pipe, and 16 and 17 mm for pipes with a larger external diameter. The discs are listed under ‘Diamond cup wheels’, with a V-profile for concrete up to C30 and for hard concrete up to C45.

Complete set: router, router discs and dust extraction

The milling machine alone is not enough to get started. You’ll also need a milling disc with the groove width matching your pipe, an industrial vacuum cleaner rated H for dry operation – as screed dust contains quartz – or a water pressure tank for wet operation. If you’re using the machine on different sites, take two groove widths with you. The T-REX can be dismantled; the operating arm folds down, and the upper section and spindle motor can be removed to navigate stairs.

That’s why you should choose the underfloor heating milling machine from Kernlochbohrer.com

The milling machine, milling discs, vacuum unit and water pressure tank are all compatible with our system; the milling discs have the 22.23 mm bore of the T-REX.
