BSM250/E-PRO floor grinder for concrete, asphalt and hard floors; wet and dry grinding

The BSM250/E-PRO is our fixed-speed floor grinder: 2200 watts, 250 mm working width, 1400 rpm, wet and dry, for concrete, asphalt, stone and terrazzo.

If you want to adjust the speed for polishing and different materials, choose our BSM250/Xtrem with a 2500-watt brushless motor and a speed range of 400 to 2000 rpm.

Substrates and applications

Fitted with diamond grinding discs and shoes, the BSM250/E-PRO smooths soft, medium-hard and hard concrete floors, removes filler, carpet adhesive and old coatings, and restores sealed surfaces. When fitted with sanding pads, it becomes a polishing machine for concrete, stone and terrazzo floors. Where possible, wet grinding is used to prevent the generation of harmful grinding dust; otherwise, dry grinding is carried out with an industrial vacuum cleaner.

Motor and speed

The 2200-watt three-phase motor, operating at 230 V, requires no carbon brushes and drives the grinding head directly at its rated speed. The connection cable is plugged directly into the starter box on the guide arm; there is no short power cable attached to the machine body that gets in the way whilst grinding. The motor and electrical components are protected against dust and splashing water to IP 54 standard, which is important for wet grinding.

Additional features

• Swivelling sanding head: Can be swivelled out from the centre of the chassis to either side. Together with the removable dust guard, the tool can reach edges and corners without the need for reworking with a hand sander.
• Height-adjustable sanding head with spirit level: The level adjustment via the wheel axle compensates for differences in height between the sanding discs, adapter plate and pads; the spirit level on the sanding head indicates whether it is level. This ensures the tool rests evenly on the surface.
• Foldable guide arm: Adjusted to suit the user’s height and folded away for transport; a locking screw secures the upper section in both positions.
• Emergency stop flap: Located on the starter box on the guide arm, above the start and stop buttons. Closing it switches the machine off immediately.

Dust extraction attachment and wet operation

For dry sanding, an industrial vacuum cleaner is connected to the extraction port. The two-part dust guard on the sanding head contains the dust; the dust guard strap supplied can also be fitted. For wet sanding, water is supplied via the Gardena coupling from the water pressure tank or the mains supply; the ball valve regulates the flow, and the extraction port is sealed with the dust protection cap.

Guidance and transport

Weighing 55.7 kg, the BSM250/E-PRO is guided across the floor on two wheels rather than carried. The start and stop controls are located in the starter box on the guide arm – exactly where your hands are anyway. For transport, the upper section of the guide arm is folded down, whilst the fold-away transport handle on the motor helps with lifting. The vibration level of less than 2.5 m/s² is gentle on hands and arms, even during long grinding sessions.

The type of floor determines which of our grinding tools is fitted to the grinding head:

• Diamond grinding discs and diamond grinding shoes: For concrete, for smoothing and for removing adhesives and coatings, depending on grit size and bond type.
• Adapter plate Ø 250 mm: Quick change system for Diamond grinding shoes, PKD segments and pads, saving time with every tool change.
• Sanding pads and diamond polishing pads: For polishing concrete, stone and terrazzo floors.
• Dust-control brush ring: An alternative to the dust-control strap; the soft brushes keep the dust beneath the grinding head during dry grinding.
• TS1000/PRO industrial vacuum cleaner: Fits the extraction connection and collects fine dust during dry grinding.
• WT60/S water pressure tank: 60 litres with hose reel for wet grinding without a mains water connection.
