This 5-piece case set is ideal for sockets, pipe penetrations and drains, installed dry in masonry and brickwork, with the five most common diameters in a single case: Ø 38 / 52 / 65 / 117 / 127 mm, all with a working length of 170 mm and an M16 shank. Adapters for SDS-Plus and hexagonal shanks are included, so the set can be used with both a drill and a core drill.

Diameters and mountings

The five sizes cover the typical tasks of a plumber: 38 mm for cable and pipe penetrations, 52 mm for HT pipes DN 40, 65 mm for cavity wall sockets and DN 50, and 117 and 127 mm for DN 100 waste water and ventilation pipes. With a working length of 170 mm, each core bit can pass through a standard internal wall; for thicker walls, the 200 mm extension is included. All core bits have an M16 shank; using the adaptors supplied, they fit SDS-Plus hammer drills (in drilling mode without hammer action) and drills with a hexagonal shank.

Segments and construction

The specially shaped 10 mm-high turbo segments are laser-welded and provide greater feed rate than straight segments, as the waveform pushes the drill cuttings out of the cut. Longitudinal slots in the carrier body remove the cuttings and make it easier to release the drill core; the drive wedge included in the set knocks it out.

Materials and dry drilling

The turbo core bits are part of our range of dry diamond core bits and are designed for dry drilling in concrete, masonry, brick, lightweight concrete and concrete blocks without steel reinforcement. Reinforced concrete is not suitable for these bits; our wet diamond core bits are designed for that purpose. Drilling is carried out without percussion, using a core drill or a drill with sufficient power.

Compatible machines

The bits can be used on any non-hammer drill with an SDS-Plus or hexagonal shank and sufficient power; with an extension, they can also be used on our core drilling machines with an M16 shank. For smaller socket holes up to 82 mm, our diamond back box cutters complete the set.
