MKB-35HD magnetic drill: Core drilling in steel up to 35 mm, weighing just 12 kg
The MKB-35HD is ideal for drilling directly into components, beams, flanges or sheet metal: 1,550 watts, core drill bits up to Ø 35 mm, magnetic holding force of 14,800 N. Weighing just 12 kg, it is the right choice when the machine needs to be moved and carried frequently.
- Infinitely variable speed from 100 to 830 rpm, soft start: large core bits start slowly at full torque, smaller ones faster.
- Coolant reservoir: cooling lubricant supplied via the Weldon chuck extends the service life of the cutting edges.
- Holding force sensor, overload protection, safety strap: the machine only starts when sufficient holding force is present; the strap secures the machine in the event of a power cut.
- In the carrying case: with handles, coolant reservoir and safety strap.

MKB-35HD magnetic drill for core drilling in steel up to 35 mm
The MKB-35HD is our compact magnetic drill: 1,550 watts, core bits up to Ø 35 mm with 19 mm Weldon shank, magnetic holding force 14,800 N, 170 mm stroke, continuously variable speed from 100 to 830 rpm, 12 kg, for steel and ferromagnetic workpieces.
For drill holes up to Ø 50 mm, we offer our larger MKB-50HD with 1,700 watts.
Drilling diameters and materials
The MKB-35HD drills into steel and structural steel sections wherever the magnetic base adheres to a ferromagnetic surface: beams, sheet metal, flanges, rails. When used with core bits, it cuts out only the ring, making it significantly faster than a Twist drill bit of the same size, whether for through-holes or blind holes, horizontally, vertically or overhead. With the supplied toothed chuck (1.5 to 13 mm), it also functions as a standard drill for small diameters.
- Core drill bits: up to Ø 35 mm
- Twist drill bits in the toothed chuck: 1.5 to 13 mm, solid drills with Weldon shank up to Ø 35 mm
- Tool holder: Weldon 19 mm
- Minimum material thickness for holding force: 10 mm
- Stroke: 170 mm
- Dimensions: 430 x 200 x 250 mm
- Material: steel, ferromagnetic workpieces
Motor and magnet
The 1550-watt motor, operating at 230 V, drives the drill via a gearbox; the speed is continuously adjustable between 100 and 830 rpm: large core drills run slowly at full torque, whilst smaller ones run faster. The electromagnet holds the machine against the workpiece with a force of 14,800 N, even on walls and overhead. It develops its full force on clean, smooth steel; a thin layer of paint does not interfere with this.
- Power consumption: 1,550 W
- Speed: 100 to 830 rpm, continuously variable
- Magnetic holding force: 14,800 N
- Voltage: 230 V / 50 Hz
Additional functions
- Soft start: The motor starts at reduced speed, allowing the drill to begin without jerking.
- Continuously variable speed control: The speed adjusts to the diameter and material, rather than changing in steps.
- Coolant reservoir: Fitted to the machine, it supplies the core drill with cooling lubricant via the Weldon chuck, which extends the service life of the cutting edges.
Safety features
- Holding force sensor: Checks the magnetic holding force on the workpiece when it is positioned. If the force is insufficient, the machine cannot be switched on.
- Overload protection: Shuts down before the motor is damaged.
- Safety strap: Secures the machine to prevent it from falling in the event of a power cut. Mandatory when the machine is in a vertical position or overhead; supplied.
Operation and tool change
Weighing 12 kg, the MKB-35HD is carried to the workpiece using the carrying handle, positioned in place, with the magnet switched on first followed by the motor, and the safety strap secured. The spirit level on the housing indicates whether the machine is level. Feed is controlled via the handwheel with three screw-in hand levers; the switches for the magnet and motor are positioned separately and cannot be confused. The core drill bit is clamped into the Weldon chuck using the side clamping screw; for twist drill bits, the toothed chuck is used.
- Weight: 12 kg
- Feed: Handwheel, three hand levers
- Tool change: Weldon 19 mm, toothed chuck 1.5 to 13 mm for Twist drill bits
Compatible core drills
The MKB-35HD accommodates all core drills with a 19 mm Weldon shank up to Ø 35 mm; the following from our range are suitable:
- HSS hole saws: The range extends from Ø 12 to 50 mm; sizes up to Ø 35 mm are suitable for the MKB-35HD. With or without an ejector pin, for structural steel and unalloyed steel.
- 7-piece HSS hole saw set: Six hole saws from Ø 12 to 22 mm in 2 mm increments and an ejector pin in a case; all within the drilling range of the MKB-35HD.
- Twist drill bits: For use with the supplied keyed drill chuck with a clamping range of 1.5 to 13 mm, for holes under 12 mm and threaded core holes.
