MKB-50HD magnetic drill: core drilling in steel up to 50 mm, 15,600 N holding force
The MKB-50HD is ideal for drilling directly on components, beams, flanges or sheet metal: 1,700 watts, core bits up to Ø 50 mm, 160 mm stroke. The component remains in place; the machine can also be used against a wall or overhead.
- Infinitely variable speed from 100 to 810 rpm, soft start: large core bits run slowly at full torque, Twist drill bits run quickly.
- Coolant reservoir: cooling lubricant supplied via the Weldon chuck extends the service life of the cutting edges.
- Holding force sensor, overload protection, safety strap: starts only when sufficient holding force is present; the strap secures the machine in the event of a power cut.
- 13 kg in a carrying case: with handles, coolant reservoir and safety strap.

MKB-50HD magnetic drill for core drilling in steel up to 50 mm
The MKB-50HD is our large magnetic drill: 1,700 watts, core drill bits up to Ø 50 mm with 19 mm Weldon shank, magnetic holding force 15,600 N, 160 mm stroke, continuously variable speed from 100 to 810 rpm, for steel and ferromagnetic workpieces.
For drill holes up to Ø 35 mm and a slightly lighter machine, we offer our smaller MKB-35HD with 1,550 watts.
Drilling diameters and materials
The MKB-50HD drills into steel and structural steel sections wherever the magnetic base adheres to a ferromagnetic surface: beams, sheet metal, flanges, rails. When used with core bits, it cuts out only the ring, making it significantly faster than a Twist drill bit of the same size. With the supplied toothed chuck (1.5 to 13 mm), it also functions as a solid-drill for small diameters.

Motor and magnet
The 1,700-watt motor, operating at 230 V, drives the drill via a gearbox; the speed is infinitely variable between 100 and 810 rpm, with large core bits running slowly at full torque and twist drill bits running quickly. The electromagnet holds the machine against the workpiece with a force of 15,600 N, even on walls and overhead.

Additional functions
- Soft start: The motor starts at reduced speed, allowing the drill to begin without jerking.
- Continuously variable speed control: The speed adjusts to the diameter and material, rather than changing in steps.
- Coolant reservoir: Fitted to the machine, it supplies the core drill with cooling lubricant via the Weldon chuck, which extends the service life of the cutting edges.
Safety features
- Holding force sensor: Checks the magnetic holding force on the workpiece when it is positioned. If the force is insufficient, the machine cannot be switched on.
- Overload protection: Shuts down before the motor is damaged.
- Safety strap: Secures the machine to prevent it from falling in the event of a power cut. Mandatory when the machine is in a vertical position or overhead; supplied.
Operation and tool change
Weighing 13 kg, the MKB-50HD is carried to the workpiece using the carrying handle, positioned on it, the magnet switched on and the safety strap secured. Feed is controlled via the handwheel with three screw-in hand levers; the switches are arranged so that the magnet and motor cannot be confused. Switching from the core drill bit to the gear-ring chuck for Twist drill bits takes just a moment.

Compatible core drills
The MKB-50HD accommodates all core drills with a 19 mm Weldon shank; the following from our range are suitable:
- HSS hole saws: Ø 12 to 50 mm, with or without ejector pin, for structural steel and unalloyed steel.
- 7-piece HSS hole saw set: The most common diameters in a case, ideal for beginners.
- Twist drill bit: Using the supplied toothed chuck with a clamping range of 1.5 to 13 mm, for holes under 12 mm and threaded core holes.
