Sharpening plate for Diamond core drill bits, cutting discs and back box cutters, 300 x 300 mm
The sharpening plate is ideal for re-sharpening diamond tools that become glazed during dry drilling or dry cutting, rather than throwing them away: a few cuts into the plate expose the diamonds again, and the tool drills just as well as it did on the first day. Measuring 300 x 300 x 30 mm and weighing 5.5 kg, it sits sturdily on the floor yet still fits in a toolbox.
When dry drilling into concrete or hard clinker, segments quickly become glazed; the bond slips over the diamonds, the core bit no longer drills but instead grinds and becomes hot. The sharpening plate wears away the bond until the diamonds regain their grip.
Application
For dry cutting, guide the tool into the plate at full speed right up to the edge of the segment, then switch off the machine and allow the tool to run out in the plate whilst applying light pressure. Repeat this until the diamonds are once again clearly visible and can be felt protruding from the bond, usually after two to five cuts. It is not the diamonds that are ground down, but the bond that is removed until the diamonds are exposed.
- Cuts per sharpening: 2 to 5
- Operating mode: dry, full speed
- Check: Diamonds can be felt and seen
Construction and dimensions
The plate is dimensioned so that even a 200 drill bit or a 350 cutting disc can penetrate right up to the edge of the segment. At 30 mm thick, it can withstand many sharpening operations.
Suitable tools
The sharpening plate sharpens all diamond tools with sintered segments:
- Our diamond core drill bits: Primarily dry diamond core bits that vitrify when cutting through concrete and clinker.
- Our diamond cutting discs: After prolonged dry cutting in hard materials.
- Our back box cutters: The tools most commonly used for dry cutting in the electrical trade.
