SID202/P-Xtrem soft impact core drilling machine for wet and dry drilling up to 202 mm

The SID202/P-Xtrem is the 202 mm class soft impact core drilling machine with a P-handle: 2,600-watt brushless motor, two-speed gearbox in oil bath, dry drilling with soft hammer action or wet drilling, hand-held up to Ø 162 mm, in a Core drill stand up to Ø 202 mm, for concrete, reinforced concrete, stone and masonry.

Identical in design to the H-handle version for ceiling and floor drilling: our SID202/H-Xtrem. With the appropriate core drill stand, the tool is available as the SID202/P-Xtrem core drilling system with IDS252/V-PRO.

Drilling diameters and materials

The SID202/P-Xtrem drills dry with soft hammer action in concrete, reinforced concrete, stone and masonry; the drilling dust is collected directly at the machine by the industrial vacuum cleaner. This is where its strength lies: air-conditioning systems, heat pumps, building service entries and fibre-optic cables in hospitals, hotels, plant rooms and fully fitted flats, where no water must come into contact with the walls. Wet drilling remains the choice for very hard building materials, hard natural stone, concrete with a high silica or quartz content, and for large or deep drill holes. A dust extraction adapter and water connection are included.

Motor and gearbox

The brushless 2600-watt motor, operating at 230 V / 50 Hz, requires no carbon brushes, eliminating the need for brush replacement due to wear. The mechanical two-speed gearbox runs in an oil bath: large drill bits run at full torque in first gear, whilst small ones run at high cutting speed in second gear. For dry drilling, the soft hammer action is engaged via the mode selector ring on the drill spindle; this provides a gentle hammering action in addition to the rotational movement, which assists the Diamond core drill bit in concrete and reinforced concrete. The diameters specified for each gear apply to concrete of average hardness; for reinforced concrete, the lower gear should be selected.

Additional functions

• Core ejection: If a core becomes stuck in the drill bit, press the switch three times quickly. The spindle makes a brief back-and-forth movement to loosen the core and stops automatically after 8 seconds.
• Soft start: Speed and power increase gradually when switched on, allowing the drill bit to engage smoothly without a sudden torque surge causing the machine to jerk.
• LED indicator: The red LED indicates overload, allowing the contact pressure to be reduced immediately; the yellow LED indicates overheating.

Safety features

• Kickback protection: Monitors the machine’s rotational movement around its longitudinal axis. If the drill bit jams and the tool jerks, the electronics immediately cut off the power supply.
• Slip clutch: Additionally disconnects the power transmission mechanically as soon as the drill bit becomes jammed in the material.
• Electronic protection: Protected against overload, overvoltage and overheating; the control unit also shuts down in the event of a phase failure or short circuit.
• Personal protection circuit breaker: PRCD in the mains cable.
• Protection class: II

Hand-held or mounted on a Core drill stand

Weighing 6.05 kg, this tool is the lightest in the 202 mm class and can be safely operated freehand up to 162 mm. The P-handle keeps it compact and manoeuvrable, even in basements where pipes and cable bundles restrict the space behind the machine; the clamping collar handle can be rotated on the clamping collar. In addition, and for precisely right-angled drill holes, the tool can be mounted in a drill stand; the clamping collar fits into Core drill stands with a 60 mm clamping holder. The tool holder accommodates standard Diamond core drill bits without the need for an adapter; any stuck core drill bit can be loosened using the two spanner wrenches supplied.

Suitable core drill stands and core bits

Which of our core drill stands is suitable depends on the substrate:

• KBS252/PRO: The all-rounder up to Ø 252 mm with dowel fixing and attachable chassis. The first choice if the machine is regularly used on the stand.
• IDS252/V-PRO: With Vacuum fixing. For smooth floors and walls where dowelling is not permitted.

For dry drilling with soft hammer action, our soft-hammer dry diamond core bits with a working length of 300 mm are available in diameters from 32 to 202 mm, whilst our soft-hammer dry diamond core bits with a working length of 450 mm are suitable for deeper holes.
