Copper rings for diamond core drill bits and extensions with a 1 1/4" UNC connection (5 pieces)
These copper rings are ideal for core drill operators who frequently change their bits and do not wish to use force to remove a tightened bit from the spindle after drilling: A ring is placed between the drill spindle and the bit or extension; this prevents the screw connection from seizing up, making it easier to remove the bit after drilling. The set contains 5 rings for 1 1/4" UNC; each ring can be reused multiple times.
How to use the copper ring
Before screwing on the bit, slide a ring over the external thread of the drill spindle until it sits flush. Then screw on the bit and tighten it as usual with an open-ended spanner; the ring now sits between the contact surfaces. After drilling, the same combination of tools loosens the crown without striking the pipe or thread. If you are drilling with an extension, fit a ring onto its threaded connection as well. Applying water-resistant grease to the threads, as recommended in our operating instructions, provides additional protection against corrosion.

Copper ring or quick-release ring
Both parts serve the same purpose, but never simultaneously: before fitting the quick-release ring, the spindle must be free of copper rings. Our quick-release ring is fitted onto the spindle once and is supplied as standard with the DKB-202, DKB-352, DKB-502 and SID-352 units. Copper rings are the choice for units without a quick-release ring and for screw connections on our 1 1/4" UNC extensions.
Compatible with these core drilling machines and core bits
- Core drilling machines with a 1 1/4" UNC spindle: The instruction manuals for the SID202/H-Xtrem, SID202/P-Xtrem and DKB252/Xtrem explicitly mention the copper ring to facilitate the removal of the core bit. The DKB102/H has an M16 spindle and accommodates UNC core bits via the supplied adapter; a ring is also required between the adapter and the core bit, as with any metal threaded connection with 1 1/4" UNC.
- Diamond core drill bits with 1 1/4" UNC: all our diamond core drill bits with this connection, regardless of diameter.
- Extension tubes with 1 1/4" UNC: between the spindle and the extension tube, and between the extension tube and the core bit.
