Skippy petrol-powered pile driver for piles from 20 to 120 mm

The Skippy is our large pile driver: post diameters from 20 to 120 mm, 20 to 55 joules at 700 to 1,350 blows per minute, 1 kW 4-stroke petrol engine, 20.8 kg, for timber, metal and concrete posts.

If you’re only driving in posts up to 80 mm, our Joey – with the same engine and the same impact power – weighs just 12 kg.

Applications and stake dimensions

The Skippy drives wooden, metal and concrete posts vertically into the ground, including T-posts and Z-profiles. Posts from 100 to 120 mm fit directly into the post holder; no sleeve is provided for this, nor is one required. For smaller diameters, two sleeves are supplied to guide the post, ensuring the driver remains straight even on thin posts. The sleeve is changed using the union nut; the strap wrench required for this is included. How deep a post goes depends on the ground, moisture content and the post itself.

Drive and impact power

The air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine with a displacement of 37.7 cm³ delivers 1 kW and drives a hammer mechanism with an impact energy of 20 to 55 joules at 700 to 1,350 blows per minute; the hammer housing is made of aluminium. As it is a 4-stroke engine, pure petrol is used in the fuel tank; the engine oil is contained in a separate reservoir and is filled at the factory. Fuel consumption is specified in relation to engine power, at a maximum of 0.89 litres per kilowatt-hour.

Additional functions

• Combination switch: The stop switch, throttle lever and speed control switch are located on the operating handle; the right hand does not need to change grip to operate them.
• Vibration-dampened handles: The control and grip handles are vibration-dampened, which reduces strain on the hands and arms when working on long rows of posts.
• Manual fuel pump: Fills the carburettor before starting; together with the choke lever, it facilitates cold starting.

Safety features

• Throttle lock: The throttle only operates when the lock is engaged, making it more difficult to accidentally accelerate when placing or removing the machine.
• Stop switch: Switches off the engine directly at the control handle; a lock prevents accidental switching.

Handling and transport

Work is carried out in pairs: one person holds the rammer with both hands on the control and grip handles, whilst the other positions and aligns the post. The Skippy is carried by the transport handle, as vertically as possible; between uses, it is stored in its wheeled case. The fuel tank is emptied for long journeys.
